This project was for the protection and make safe of the Old Workhouse at St Edmunds Hospital site in Northampton. The workhouse is a Grade 2 listed building and one of the 2 remaining Gilbert Scott workhouse examples left in England.
The building had deteriorated into an extremely poor state of repair, roofs and floors had partially collapsed, with the building being at risk of complete collapse. The works comprised of temporary shoring, building support and bracing, stripping back to the stable parts of the second floor walls and then rebuilt back to a watertight shell for fit out and further development at a later date. All of this being carried out under the watchful eye of the NBC Conservation and Planning Officers and the Architects.
We provided full Quantity Surveying service – from BOQ production for tender, tender process through procurement of contractor to monthly valuations and agreement of the final account.
